About the firm

Wall Street experience, for private company owners

William & Henry Associates was founded in 2001 to advise private, entrepreneur-owned and family businesses on mergers, acquisitions and sales. We work best with owners who think of the business as their life’s work, and who want a senior advisor and partner in the most important transaction they will make.

Why William & Henry

Your transaction is our transaction

Selling a business is often the most important financial transaction of an owner’s life, and it can be stressful and emotional. We try to sit in your shoes, financially and emotionally, and to be there at every step.

We only serve private companies

Some investment banks run practices that serve large companies and private equity firms as a source of revenue. We believe that creates a conflict for any banker also representing a business owner. We don’t curry favor with the other side of the deal to win their future business, so we can be as tough as your deal needs.

The same team, start to finish

The senior team that proposes our services is the team that executes them. You will have each team member’s cell number from day one, and nobody disappears once the engagement is signed.

Custom, not cookie-cutter

We design each process around the company, its culture and its objectives, and around the buyers and financing markets of the moment, so that interest can build. We like to say we are a custom builder, not a tract-home builder.

Closing the experience gap

Most of the companies we serve don’t need a narrow industry specialist. They need someone to close the gap between an owner who does not value or sell companies for a living and the sophisticated buyer who does. Our job is to bring the same expertise to your side of the table that the buyer brings to theirs.

Experience

Where our bankers come from

Our professionals have backgrounds in investment banking, as CFOs and controllers of public and private companies, in management consulting, public accounting, corporate law and private equity, and on the boards of public and private companies. Their investment banking experience spans bulge-bracket firms such as Salomon Brothers, international firms such as Schroder Wertheim, and boutiques such as Barrington Associates.
